A colophon is the note at the end of a book recording how it was made — the press, the type, the paper. This one is for a website, but the habit is worth keeping.

Markdown, in a Git repository. One file per post.

Charter, falling back to Georgia. Interface text in whatever sans your system prefers.

git push. There is no other publish button, and no admin panel behind it.

Cloudflare Workers. Public pages are struck once at build time and served from the edge; only the pages that need to know who is reading are set per request.

On the name

Footnotes sit at the foot of the page. Foote is a family name. This publication is both — my grandfather ran a printing shop, C.L. Werst Printing, and my mother has loved letterpress ever since. This one is set in pixels rather than lead, and nothing here has to be locked into a chase before it will print. The care is meant to be the same.
